Aquatic Therapy
Rehabilitation Center > Outpatient Rehab > Aquatic Therapy
Exercising in water decreases body weight, lessening stress on weight-bearing joints like the low back, hip, knee, ankle and foot. It also increases circulation, promotes muscle relaxation, allows early motion after surgery, and aids in pain management.
The Aquatic Therapy program at DRMC's Outpatient Rehabilitation facility is conducted by licensed physical therapists and occupational therapists. It is ideal for patients with musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, sports/orthopedic injuries, and other conditions involving weakness, pain or impaired motion.
Aquatic Therapy Facilities- The heated therapy pool has depths of 3.5 to 4.5 feet with a built in treadmill.
- Convenient dressing, bathroom and shower facilities are also available.
- The Aquatic Therapy program is coordinated with the patient's "land-based" therapy program, thereby facilitating their return to function.
- A Monitored Fitness Poll Program is available for $30/month for patients who have completed aquatic therapy and would like continued use of the therapy pool.
