Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation

Physical Medicine & Rehab > Acute Rehabilitation

Physical Rehabilitation is the process of restoring function after an injury or illness.  Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation provides a coordinated, intensive program for patients who have functional limitations related to physical impairment and who have the ability to tolerate and benefit from an interdisciplinary plan of care.

In 2000, Delta Regional Medical Center opened Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation, the first intensive inpatient rehabilitation center in the Delta.  The goal of Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation is to restore independence and improve quality of life for each patient.

At Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation specialized medical professionals form as interdisciplinary team that assists the patient t achieve a successful return to work and play.

Primary Services:

  • Nursing care

  • Physical therapy

  • Occupational therapy

  • Speech therapy

  • Nutritional therapy

  • Physician services

  • Pharmacy

  • Respiratory therapy

Common Conditions Treated:

  • Stroke

  • Arthritis

  • Hip fractures

  • Amputations

  • Brain injuries

  • Spinal cord injuries

  • Multiple trauma

  • Neurological disorders

Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation’s patients receive intensive therapy and training in how to function independently once they return home.  Depending upon the degree of their function limitation, the team assists them in “relearning” activities, such as, eating, dressing, bathing, cooking and performing household duties—simple tasks that might seem overwhelming without the techniques they will acquire during therapy.  To help patients feel more confident about functioning independently, Strides provides a laundry room, training kitchen and training bathroom where they can practice daily routines.

Patients achieve their goal more quickly when they act as an active member of the team.  At Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation, we encourage patients and caregivers to participate in goal setting and discharge planning.  In addition, families are encouraged to participate in therapy and other rehab activities.  Because each patient is different there is no set time frame for treatment in Strides, but an average length of stay is two weeks, with three hours of therapy at least five days a week.

Patients are referred to Strides Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation by their physicians.  Insurance coverage for inpatient rehabilitation may be provided by Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation and many private insurance companies.
