Dr. Victor M. Luna

Endocrinologist

Dr. Luna is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. He is a member of the American College of Physicians – American Society of Internal Medicine and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He holds medical licenses in Mississippi, Arizona, and Louisiana.

Dr. Luna began his medical training at Autonomous University of Central America, San Jose, Costa Rica where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. He served as Chief Resident, Internal Medicine Department, at Louisiana State University Medical Center’s Lafayette Program. Dr. Luna continued with a Fellowship in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine, Tampa, FL.

Endocrinology is the treatment of disease of the endocrine glands, which include the thyroid, pancreas, pituitary gland, and other glands which secrete hormones. Secretions from the endocrine glands affect various processes throughout the body, such as metabolism and growth. Sudden unexplained weight loss or weight gain, and diabetes are two of the most common outward signs of a malfunction of the endocrine system.

While Dr. Luna’s expertise in his field gave him the opportunity to practice in any large market in the county, he chose to bring his talents to the Greenville community. Dr. Luna describes his decision: “I came here because it was an underserved area, and I liked the area very much, and wanted to stay to help the patients of this region. I find what I do very rewarding and I am very passionate about my work. I am trying to do as much as I possibly can for the people of the Delta and as much as I can to slow the disease we see around us - especially the complications we see from diabetes. I am doing my best to educate my patients, and treat my patients so the progression of diabetes will slow down.”

Dr. Luna lives with his wife Dr. Desiree Granados, a gynecologist, in Greenville. Dr. Luna and Dr. Granados have three children, two daughters and son, who are all under 5 years old. To say that Dr. Luna is an avid tennis player would be a mild understatement. When he is not spending time with his wife and children, he is enjoying outdoor activities and pursuing his passion for tennis.
