Greenville, MS – Congratulations to Delta Regional Medical Center’s (DRMC) very own volunteer, Deanna Weatherford on receiving the 2010 Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) Volunteer of the Year Award at the MHA Society of Hospital Auxiliaries and Volunteers Conference on November 4th in Jackson, Mississippi.

Deanna has been a member of the Delta Regional Auxiliary since May 2004 and has been a true blessing to our patients, families, visitors, and team members ever since. Deanna volunteers every Friday in DRMC’s Patient Access Services Department and greets each and every patient and visitor with her warm smile that says, “everything is going to be a-okay now that you are here!” Deanna assists DRMC team members with the challenging task of quickly and efficiently admitting our patients and then personally escorts them to the appropriate department within our facility.  Our patients are so grateful for Deanna’s personal attention during this time of uncertainty and anxiousness; she quickly makes them feel comfortable in a sometimes uncomfortable situation.

In addition to her weekly volunteer assignment, Deanna is DRMC’s single person calling committee.  She takes it upon herself each and every month to call all of our Auxiliary members to remind them of monthly meetings and of other special events taking place in the life of our active Auxiliary organization.  And finally, Deanna is always willing to take on additional responsibilities within our organization such as working our fundraising events, volunteering at outreach events for DRMC, or working on special projects the Auxiliary takes on throughout the year.

Terri Lane, Director of Service Excellence at DRMC says, “Being selected the 2010 MHA Volunteer of the Year is a fitting honor and tribute to the work and spirit of Deanna Weatherford here in Greenville and here at Delta Regional Medical Center.  We are lucky to have her on our team, and are so very proud of her!”
