Sylvia G. Jackson Appointed to DRMC Board of Trustees

Delta Regional Medical Center announces the appointment of Mrs. Sylvia G. Jackson to its Board of Trustees.

A Greenville native, Mrs. Jackson is currently the Director of the South Delta Area Agency on Aging, and has served the Delta region for over 33 years working for and with the elderly. Her work history also includes Greenville Public Schools, and City of Greenville Housing Authority. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi Valley State University. She and her husband William D. Jackson have been married 56 years and are the parents of eight children.

In her career of public service, Mrs. Jackson has served appointments to the White House Conference on Aging in 1995 and 2005, on the Southern Growth Policies Board, and on the State Board of Banking Review. In addition she has served as Election Commissioner for the City of Greenville, an Our House Ambassador, and as a member of the Greenville Housing Authority Board. She is member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and a Delta Point of Pride Recipient.

Mrs. Jackson addressed the United Nations International Conference on Aging at UN Headquarters in New York City in December 2005. She has appeared on the Connie Chung show with Bill Cosby, and was featured in the book Redneck Mothers, Good Ol’ Girls and Other Southern Belles by Sharon McKern. She also assisted author John Barry when he and his wife were researching the history of the 1927 flood in Greenville for Barry’s best selling book Rising Tide. This month, she will be featured in a Canadian documentary about the 1927 flood that will air in Canada.

“Mrs. Jackson’s communication skills, her experience addressing the needs of the elderly, plus her history of community service in Washington County, are just a few of the qualities that make her an excellent addition to DRMC’s Board of Trustees,” stated Billy Schultz, Chairman of the DRMC Board of Trustees.

“Delta Regional Medical Center is truly blessed to have Mrs. Jackson join our fine group of board members dedicated to the growth and advancement of health care for all residents of the Delta,” added L. Ray Humphreys, CEO of Delta Regional Medical Center. Current DRMC Board of Trustee members include Billy Schultz, Chairman; Mildred Crockett, Henry Rucker, Sam Newsom, James Hollowell, and George Lewis.
