Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner to Address

GREENVILLE, Ms. – In an effort to further managerial excellence in Delta Regional Medical Center’s (DRMC) workforce, DRMC has invited Ava Abney, Corporate Vice President, Organizational Excellence for Baptist Health Care, to speak to DRMC’s leadership team on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the DRMC Pavilion.

 

Abney, a Mississippi Native, will speak to the team about the importance of cultural competency in service excellence sustainability as well as provide DRMC with tips in seeking the Baldrige National Quality Program Award.

 

According to Ray Humphreys, DRMC CEO, “Ava Abney is a passionate believer in linking cultural competency and service excellence using the Baldrige framework, and we are honored to have her speak to our leadership team who will then take what they learn and implement it into our hospital’s best practices.”

 

The award, named for Malcolm Baldrige, Secretary of Commerce from 1981-1987, was created by Public Law 100-107 in 1987. The Baldrige Award is given to organizations who display managerial excellence which contributes to long-term improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of government. The Award is the nation’s highest Presidential honor for organizational performance excellence.
