Dr. Shabana Karim, Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatologist, has been named Delta Regional Medical Center’s medical director of inpatient rehabilitation, effective February 1st.  As medical director of inpatient rehabilitation, she oversees the total plan of care for every inpatient rehabilitation patient.

Ruthie Sweet, RN, MSN, FNP- BC Nursing Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation at Delta Regional Medical Center, says, “We are very excited to have Dr. Shabana Karim as part of our team, and we look forward to working closely with her to continue providing quality of care to our patients.”

Karim attained her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.  She completed a fellowship in Rheumatology and an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. 

Karim says, “This gives me an exciting opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team with the goal of helping patients return to normal life as much as possible by relearning and regaining the skills of everyday living. I am delighted to be part of this team. Our goal will be to help the patient understand and adapt to difficulties, prevent secondary complications and educate family members to play a supporting role.” She is located at The Greenville Clinic, 1502 South Colorado Street.
