Delta Regional Medical Center: “We’re Growing Too”

Local hospital announces expansion of service lines this summer

GREENVILLE, Ms. –We’re Growing Too,” says Ray Humphreys, Delta Regional Medical Center (DRMC) CEO. It’s planting season in the Delta, and while local farmers are planting their crops and supporting families locally and across the nation, they are also doing their part to support DRMC’s growth by placing signs of support in their fields throughout the Delta.

The signs signify the future expansion at DRMC. Throughout the next few months, the hospital will be expanding its service lines with a newly expanded and improved ER, as well as by opening the Heart & Vascular Center and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

DRMC’s expansion, continual effort to train its workforce, take great measures to address the needs of its patients and make improvements in the quality care it provides, allows DRMC to fulfill its vision to be the best hospital in the state of Mississippi at which to receive healthcare, practice medicine, and work.

Over the past year, DRMC has improved ER patient flow to better serve patients; was selected as one of only 10 hospitals nationwide to participate in the Expecting Success Cardiac Care research project; expanded hours to provide primary care services for the working uninsured; lead the nation in five categories in patient satisfaction with its Solutions Behavioral Health Services; was awarded “Most Overall Improvement” at the IQH Quality Showcase; was the recipient of a national award in healthcare service quality for the fourth year in a row from AVATAR International; added a new 64-slice state-of-the-art CT scanner; initiated three major renovations and new construction programs; reduced the Nurse Shortage Rate from 23 percent to three percent; and became Tobacco Free in July 2007.

According to AVATAR International Inc., DRMC has also increased overall hospital patient satisfaction scores nearly two points bringing the total, to date, to 86.29 out of 100 points.

As a leading employer in the community, DRMC employs approximately 1,225 people in the Delta. Not only does the hospital create jobs and provide healthcare to the community, it also serves as an economic engine and works to find solutions for Mississippi’s healthcare needs.
