DRMC Hosted 4th Annual Delta Area Sports Physicals Day

Delta Regional Medical Center hosted the 4th annual Delta Area Sports Physicals Day on Saturday, May 8th at Mid South Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Physicians and nurse practitioners volunteered their time to provide free physical screenings for 900 Washington County student-athletes.

The event was coordinated by the DRMC Outpatient Rehab and Sports Medicine team, Thomas Loper, PT, Steve Grubb, LAT, and Troy Armstrong, ATC/LAT.  Participating schools included: Riverside, St. Joe, Deer Creek, Greenville Public Schools, Leland High School, O’Bannon, Simmons, Greenville Christian School, and Washington School.

Physicians and nurse practitioners included: Dr. Chapman, Dr. Cirilli, Dr. Prior, Dr. Daley, Nell Hunter, Donna Pinion, Amy Dowdy, Dr. Broom, Dr. Gober and Dr. Mansour. DRMC volunteers assisting with the physicals included: Betty Burke, Pat Barber, Terri Lane, Terri Burrell, Audrey Williams, Michael Laird, Cindy Deerman, Tracy Johnston, Susie Hedgepeth, Melissa Jennings, and Sandra Showah.

Stephanie Kent, Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at DRMC says, “Through the physical screening process, several medical issues were identified, such as, high blood pressure, heart murmur, and scoliosis. Without our wonderful volunteers from our medical community, many of these schools would have to travel to Jackson to receive this free service and their medical issues may have gone undetected.”
